About Hayat
I’m originally from Ethiopia and have lived in Africa and Europe, but New York City is the place I now call home. I love the vibrancy and diversity of this city—if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. My website opens with a view of the NYC skyline, a quiet nod to the city that continues to shape my growth, grounding, and perspective.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 20 years in the technology industry leading engineering and operations teams. I carry the lessons from my corporate career into my therapy practice, which gives me a unique ability to connect with clients—especially professionals navigating the intense pressures of the tech and finance worlds.
Today, I maintain a private practice and also see clients at Weill Cornell Hospital’s Trauma and Addiction Unit, which specializes in EMDR treatment. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management Information Systems with a minor in Computer Science from UMass, an Executive MBA from Suffolk University, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), hold a three-year Trauma Studies Certificate from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in NYC, and am an EMDR Certified Therapist through the EMDRIA International Association.
Outside of work, I enjoy hosting dinner parties for friends, taking long mindfulness walks with my little dog Dudley, and experiencing everything the city has to offer—from live shows to quiet neighborhood moments.
Every story matters. I look forward to learning yours and helping you create the change you’re seeking.
My executive coaching is transformational, results-driven, and future-focused. I help executives and entrepreneurs shatter blind spots, dismantle roadblocks, and eliminate unproductive patterns that hinder peak performance. Through personalized one-on-one coaching, I guide leaders in making bold, strategic pivots that drive lasting, high-impact change in their careers, leadership styles, and personal lives.
With over two decades as a dedicated mindfulness practitioner, I integrate meditation and evidence-based holistic techniques into my practice. I bring a powerful blend of intuition, empathy, and neuroscience-backed strategies to help leaders cultivate self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a sustainable work-life balance. By harnessing mindfulness, my clients develop the clarity, focus, and resilience needed to lead with confidence, purpose, and authenticity.
Rooted in both business leadership and clinical expertise, my treatment philosophy is shaped by a dynamic career spanning over two decades in Fortune 50 companies and tech startups. I have led engineering, operations, and executive teams, honing a deep understanding of human resilience, performance, and transformation. My academic credentials further reinforce this perspective—I hold an MBA from Suffolk University, an MSSW in Clinical Psychotherapy from Columbia University, and advanced postgraduate training in Trauma Studies at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. Additionally, I specialize in Executive Coaching through New York University, equipping individuals with the tools to heal, lead, and thrive.
